Link Exchanging

A link exchange is trading links from your site to someone else's, who links to yours too. Usually you do a link exchange with someone who's website is about the same thing as yours - like our cats - because visitors might want more information about cats so they will check out your site too.

A good way to keep your link exchange is to have a page of links. You've probably seen these before when visiting other people's sites. You can have a list of people you want to link to, using their banner. Be sure to have your banner on that page too so they can use it!

A link exchange works the same as any other link. You use the <a href> tag to link and the <img src> tag to put the image in your text. So here's an example:

<h1>My Links Page</h1>
<a href="http://www.geocities.com/cats/"><img src="katscats.gif"></a>

Which looks like this on a page!

And there you go! See how many other webmasters you can meet while trying to get your site linked to!
