Insect Hide and Seek!
Directions: Read the clues and try to determine which insect each clue is describing. Then try to find that insect in the Hide and Seek puzzle. Answers can be found left, right, up, down, and diagonal.
Clues:
- I am a type of beetle. I am often considered lucky. I am beneficial to the environment, because I eat plant harmful aphids. I can have spots on my back, but not all varieties of my type do. I also fly.
- I am known for my great jumping ability. I range in sizes from very small to large. I eat plants.
- I am small and live in a large colony. I can lift amazing weight compared to my tiny size. As a group, we dig tunnels underground and care for our queen's young.
- I make a lot of noise in the summer during the afternoons in trees. I fly although I am a bit clumsy. I drink plant juices, and I am considered a pest. I range in color from green to brown.
- You may have problems finding me; I look just like a stick. I walk slowly to stay concealed. I tend to be colored to match my environment.
- Many people are afraid of me, because I can sting. I am actually very important to the environment, because I am a great pollinator. I live in a colony and work in a hive with my fellow workers.
- I am one of the most beautiful types of butterfly. I have great orange and black stripes. As a caterpillar I feed on milkweed, which is a poisonous plant. I retain this poison as an adult so that no predators will want to eat me. I also migrate in the winter and must fly great distances.
