Am I an Insect?

Butterfly People can easily get confused when using the term "insect." Insects generally have six legs, three body parts (the head, thorax, and abdomen), and two antennas. Some insects have wings but not all do.

Insects belong to the great big group of Arthropods, which also includes spiders and crustaceans. (Crustaceans are usually aquatic and include crabs, lobsters, and shrimp. Check out more about them at this website) All arthropods have exoskeletons, which is like having a skeleton on the outside of your body! Thankfully mammals (like us!) don't have exoskeletons.
