Designer Braces

Hi everyone! Sorry it has been a while- but I was so busy having fun at our summer camps that I didn't have any time to write. Now that summer camps are all over, it is back to work as usual!

{quick side note}

I want to give a SHOUT OUT to all my fellow braceface girls that came to Girlstart summer camp this year. It was so fun getting to know you and sharing our brace face stories. I wish you much luck and tons of great times with your braces!

{back to the diary…}

Back in the old days (when I was a teenager- OK, stop guessing, I'm not THAT old!), braces only came one way- shiny silver! Now, you can get so many different types of braces, and do some really cool things with them- it is like an accessory in your mouth!

So I thought I would talk about the types of braces you can get. After much research- here's what I found:
  • Silver Braces - the most common type of braces especially for kids
  • Gold Braces - look just like the silver ones, but are made of 24K plated gold. These are more popular with adults that wear a lot of gold jewelry.
  • Esthetic Braces - (also known as clear braces) are the made of ceramic and usually blend with the color of your teeth. These are the type of braces yours truly wears (oh- and Tom Cruise wears them too)!
  • Glow in the Dark Braces - are clear until you turn the lights out and then they glow in the dark- I think I would freak people out if my mouth was glowing!!
  • Invisalign Braces - for people that really don't need braces, but want their teeth to be super straight. They look like a plastic retainer and you get a tighter one every 6 weeks.
  • Lingual Braces - these go behind your teeth- so no one can see them. They work just like regular braces- but in reverse!
You can even add colored rubber bands that match your school colors or coordinate with your outfit! Who knew braces could be so much fun???!!!

Julie
